Who we're

We believe we can learn something about how to respond to terror and violence from the in-depth personal experiences of people who choose not just to fight back but to LOVEBACK.

A community of concerned citizens in the UK, USA and abroad who believe we can make a difference by raising awareness, support and engagement in proactive initiatives.

We are a growing team of both students and professionals from the different fields of law, entertainment, education, media, medicine, sports, government and beyond cutting across the social, public and private sectors of society.

LOVEBACK is an initiative promoting peace, dialogue and community development in response to social challenges like gang culture and terrorism through creative and constructive efforts.

We support affected communities in constructive and creative enterprise. Through developing and facilitating entrepreneurial advocacy, we engage the youth in job creation, self-development, creative arts including drama, dance and film production. These and other community building efforts are used to promote tolerance, respect, forgiveness and restorative justice.

There are positive and inspiring narratives of people loving back instead of responding to hatred and violence in a predictable manner. These short stories are a much-needed counter-narrative currently being compiled visually to be used as a tool in community development, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, education and social cohesion.

Strategic partnerships and relationships are nurtured as these initiatives help us bridge socio-economic, tribal and religious barriers as more and more people are supported to rethink their response to the social challenges of poverty, terrorism and violence.

What do we want to achieve with the campaign?

  • Create awareness of the LOVEBACK Counter-narrative.
  • Receive support financially and in kind.
  • Discover and develop advocates and ambassadors for the campaign.
  • Challenge the negative narrative with a positive one.

How do we achieve these?
  • We shine a light on existing role models responding to terror and violence in a constructive manner.
  • To replicate the best and most appropriate creative responses in other geographical areas of need.
  • To provide support on the ground for those affected terrorism both in the UK and abroad

A model of sustainable enterprise
The LOVEBACK project is a community engaging international project supported by Icontowers CIC which is a community interest company. We believe creativity and trade can be deployed to tackle the varied social challenges in community engagement and development.

We aim to raise finances to kick-start the LB Project but our model is that of sustainable enterprise focused on ploughing back surplus profits into the project and community.

The project will:
  • Provide awareness and coverage through media of people/organisations who are responding to violence and acts of terror in constructive, creative and artistic ways to support victims and combat the ideology behind terrorism.
  • Raise and provide funding for such people and organisations to continue and develop their work in this regard.
  • Encourage further creative responses to acts of violence and terror by supporting the development of wholesome counter-ideology through education, sports and community building initiatives.
  • Develop and facilitate relationships between schools, colleges, universities, out-of-formal-education settings.

LoveBack DNA consists of four core values.

lOVE

love

Love is indeed more violent than terror. This principle and wholesome counter-narrative is the back-bone of the LOVEBACK Project. We believe violence only leads to more violence. We will be unpacking the inspiring testimonies of people practising this powerful mantra in practical terms: Love thy neighbour as thyself.

respect

Thoughtful and proper recognition of the unique challenges faced by different communities is helping us build bridges and form strategic partnerships in development and education. We hope to develop these networks with the aim of adding value and increasing a positive out outlook in our response to social challenges like gang related violence, Knife-crime and terrorism.

respect
tolerance

tolerance

Educating people to embrace a willingness to tolerate the existence of varying opinions and a diversity of views in society without resorting to hatred and violence or anti-social behaviour is foundational to the LOVEBACK Project. Communicating these dynamic to a contemporary generation is a crucial part of our assignment.

forgiveness

Show-casing the heart-warming narratives of people who have chosen to let go of the negative emotions of bitterness, hatred, vengefulness and un-forgiveness is part of what makes the LOVEBACK unique. We believe strongly that Forgiveness has a capacity to transform any community into a beacon of hope and inspiration.

We Serve Our Community

As we grapple with the reality of Gang-culture, knife and Gun-crime on a local scale, and the growing challenges of global terrorism, we need to develop proactive steps that will help us serve the communities most affected by these realities.
These and other piercing issues require engagement and partnership with governmental institutions, corporate bodies; artists, charities and people from all works of life working together in a spirit of service and community building.
We believe anyone who really cares, can make a difference if they are willing to step out on a limb. We can all reach out, one person at a time. You and I can dare to be different by loving back creatively .
